シカゴオプション取引所のサイトが米中部標準時間で午後５時、ビットコイン先物取引が始まってすぐにアクセスできなくなった。アクセスの集中によりサーバー負荷が通常より高まったことが原因と見られる。日本時間で午前９時半頃には同サイトはアクセス可能になっている。

取引所公式ツイッターは「アクセス過多によりcboe.comの読み込みが遅くなったり暫時的にアクセスできなくなっている。全てのトレードシステムは通常通り作動している」としている。
今年に入って仮想通貨取引所へのアクセスが激増し処理速度がおちる現象が増えており仮想通貨への関心の高さがうかがえる。
シカゴオプション取引所での取引開始後、ビットコイン先物はすぐに１０００ドル上昇した後半値まで反落。英文記事作成時には再び上昇している。
